Dear Family and Friends,
The time has come for me to head out on my mission! I am very excited to go and serve the Lord for this short 18 months! The nerves haven't hit me yet, let's hope they don't overwhelm me tomorrow!! I would like to take this time to thank everyone for their support, thoughts, and prayers! I know that through these prayers, as well as my own, I will be able to be the best missionary I can be!
My mission president asked me to make a goal for my mission, one I would like to share with you all now, my goal for my mission is to help others come to a greater knowledge of their Savior, Jesus Christ, even if that knowledge doesn't lead to a baptism. Having a knowledge of the sacrifice our Savior made for us allows us to find comfort in our trials and tribulations, it allows us to use the atonement which was put in place for us to be like our Heavenly Father. Most importantly, it gives us hope! Hope in a world like this is the greatest tool we have!
I know that our Savior atoned for our sins, and through that atonement we can ALL be washed clean of our sins and perfectly comforted in our trials. John 16:33 reads "These things I have spoken unto you that in me ye might have peace. In this world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world". This scripture gives me the strength I need to put my faith in Christ. It is what keeps a smile on my face even when everything else seems to be going wrong. I know that when I put my trust in my Father in Heaven and Savior, Jesus Christ, everything will be okay. It may not be how I want it to be, but I will be learning the things that I need to be learning to become more like my Heavenly Father, and I will much happier!
As I leave on my mission, I wish to leave with you all my testimony.
I know that this church contains the fullness of the gospel. I know the priesthood to be the power of God here on earth, and through this power, we can perform the ordinances necessary to live in the presence of our Heavenly Father again and be sealed together as a family for all of time and eternity. I know that prayers are answered, even if it is in ways that are unexpected. I know that we are never alone! Our Savior loves each and every one of us. I know that through the atonement of Christ we can all become like our Heavenly Father, which is why we are here on this earth!
This is the message that I am going to share with the people of the Illinois Chicago West Mission.
I love you all!
