What I Learned From Hermana Labonte
I was reading in 1 Nephi 8, where Lehi saw the tree, continued to the tree, and partook of the fruit and he realized how awesome this fruit is. The lord always shows forth his path and it is unchanging. The path starts with faith, repentance, baptism, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end, and as we start on the path we will feel the love God has for us. As we partake of the fruit of the tree of life we embrace the atonement, we make covenants, and we are enveloped in the love of God. And as I was studying about Nephi, Sam, and Sariah coming to the path I had an interesting thought. Lehi was calling to them but he remembered how he got there and got back down to their level to help bring them up. This section talks about the conversion process: they have a desire, Lehi prays and goes to the tree, and then helps others come as well.

As I was studying in Mosiah 3 it talked about being saved in and through the atonement of Christ. We need to come unto Christ and be enveloped in his arms of mercy (Mosiah 16:12) and as we use the atonement of Christ we can go through him and become a saint and put off the natural man and return to Heavenly Father. We can become complete through the atonement of Christ. Mosiah 3:19 shows that we need to bear with patience our afflictions so we can learn how to be patient. Taking off the natural man requires having hope, going to church, praying with real intent, and searching the scriptures for the answers we want. We need to put our part, but the only way we can accomplish our goal is through Christ. We are not alone. As we let go of our pride Jesus Christ will help us and catch us.

Why is the bible important to you? The bible we have today went through "telephone" which is why it isn't pure. In 1 Nephi 13 Nephi learns from an angel and the angel explains things so clearly through asking questions for understanding and explanation. The angel also explains the covenants, a covenant is a relationship where we are committed to God (we follow his commandments) and God is committed to us (he blesses us). When we make a covenant at baptism we are promising the lord that we will follow him and he promises us that he will bless us for the rest of our lives with the Holy Ghost.
The apostasy started when Christ was on earth and the priesthood power was there just like there are apostate people today.
03 April 2015
2 Nephi 25:13 says he will raise the third day with healing in his wings and all those who shall believe in Christ will be saved in the kingdom of God. Believing is having faith and having faith is having confidence in God. We have and show our confidence in Christ by making covenants! And that's how we are able to enter the kingdom of God. And we can show our confidence more by magnifying, or increasing the importance of, Christ's name and his purpose. We do that by sharing the gospel and furthering his purpose "to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man".
In Helaman 5:12, it talks about remembrance. Like in the sacramental prayer. We remember as we make covenants and we "build our foundation" on Christ as we come unto him and make covenants and begin the process of putting off the natural man and become converted.

In the Book of Mormon when Lehi sees the people beginning (commenced) to go forward. They were starting to do the good, gospel, things and pushing forward but then the mists of darkness tempted them to go astray. These mists weren't fake, just like the temptations we face today aren't fake. These temptations led away a few people who would be like less active members. There was another group of people clinging to the iron rod and eventually partook of the fruit and were ashamed and left to go to the great and spacious building (sons of perdition). The third group pressed forward Continually holding the rod until they came forth to the tree and fell down and partook of the truth. It is the every day little things that help us go forth and withstand the temptations of the devil and protect ourselves against apostasy.

We have a bible, what's the point of having a Book of Mormon? The Book of Mormon teaches of Jesus Christ is the savior of the world and about His atonement. The Book of Mormon is a volume of holy scripture of equal quality to the bible. The Book of Mormon is filled to capacity with the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon has new revelation given from the prophets of God relating to human existence or the human world, laying down bare information. Helps "take away the veil". Read - to look at and comprehend the meaning "we invite all to look at and comprehend the meaning of the Book of Mormon". Ponder - to think about carefully, especially before making a decision or reaching a conclusion. Ask - to say something in order to obtain an answer "then to ask something to obtain an answer from God".

1 Nephi 10:17-21 are my favorite because Nephi heard the words of his father because he had heard the words of his father And had the desire to know if it was true or not. He knew his father had received them by the spirit and he knew he could receive an answer by the Holy Ghost as well, if you want to learn something spiritually you need to do it with the spirit of prayer. The Book of Mormon is written for our own lives so we can receive our own revelation and make our own decisions. David A. Bednar said that if we do things that drive the spirit away we need to stop it and do something that edifices us.

3 Nephi helps us remember (have in or bring to remembrance, or expressing intense force of the mind) and follow the savior Jesus Christ. We remember Christ as we partake of the sacrament, repenting, praying always, following Christ, "We can adopt a few techniques from the savior, we need to emulate him the best way we can so that we can receive all the blessings". 3 Nephi 18:13, built upon a sandy foundation when they do more or less.
17 April 2015
Bearing the weapons of war, in Alma 25, is like giving up everything to the lord. As the people were killing their brothers, they became aware that the traditions of their fathers were wrong because they weren't coming to pass. So they accepted God, and repented or changed and buried their weapons to forsake or give up their sins to the lord. They looked onwards to look forward with steadfastness towards Christ. One cannot wish for better conditions as we give up our sins, we need to create it! Forsake what's wrong, do what's right, look towards Christ. And that is like repentance which is when we are healed by our faith and turn away from the things that separate us from God. It isn't a one and done thing, we don't wait for the changes to come, we give everything up and seek thechange to become more like Christ.
Complete fidelity, or loyalty, which is to give constant and complete support or faithfulness. We show fidelity to our spouse to prepare ourselves to make a covenant with God, because as we are sealed we make a covenant with God and our spouse.
19 April 2015
Friend means to love, a person whom one know and with whom one has a bond or connection. The second greatest commandment is to love thy neighbor as thy self and if we do that people will know we are disciples of Jesus Christ. How do we show that we want to share the gospel, we show love. Love means to fellowship, concern, affection, and we show our love to God by keeping his commandments and serving him selflessly. Consistent efforts is how the lord can prepare the people around us for the gospel. Heavenly Father is using us in specific ways and as we have love we can have excitement :) even if it is discouraging, if we don't baptize anyone for the rest of my mission, I'm obedient and doing what I am supposed to do.
20 April 2015- HAPPY CLICK DAY!
2 Nephi 2:25-30 talks about agency and it talks more about how when we choose to do wrong, we give our agency to the devil. We can choose liberty and eternal life by making good choices and covenants (living the gospel). V. 28 is where I got the answer to my prayer and it says that we should choose eternal life and joy by looking, being faithful, and keep choosing good. It helps us have the spirit which helps us keep choosing the good. God is offering us his life (Moses 5:11- joy in posterity) to be kings and queens priests and priestesses, so we should choose him and not satan. We aren't going to get anything from satan. Lehi chose the best of the best of his records to include in this section and wrote it for the welfare of our souls.
Importance of members - how we choose joy. The way we have the most joy is by sharing the gospel. We can't, however, expect our friends and those around us to progress if we ourselves aren't progressing in the gospel. The gospel makes us happy because it helps us progress and become more like our savior and our Heavenly Father.
21 April 2015
Part of what had brought me the greatest joy is my divine nature. Everyone wants to feel special but the only way we can do that is knowing that we are children of God. (D&c 138:56). The plan without the atonement goes like this. Adam and Eve fell, and so they would have physical death (body and spirit separates) and spiritual death (sin) and could not overcome either of those and would have been subject to the devil because he is the ruler of all the spirits who left with him. If we don't have our bodies we cannot return to gods presence. But God loves u and centered his plan on the atonement! The atonement brings to pass the resurrection of ALL MANKIND. So we will have our bodies and won't fall into satans power and Christ atoned for our sins so we can be clean and return to live with God again.
22 April 2015
A home of love, peace, and refuge from the world. Marriage " achieving a happy marriage" cherishing each other should be the most important thing, other than your relationship with God. Love is a deep devotion, concern, or sign of affection. Serving your spouse get is keeping the commandments as well as gaining love For your spouse. Peace is doubting not, fearing not, and moving forward in faith. Home should be a place of refuge, a place of protection. Protection means to "shield the troops" and the gospel really shields the troops of God.
Christ comes to the Americas and spreads peace but the people have to get up to go and feel him, action words. 3 Nephi 19:28-29 Christ prays for the people, prays to have people be in the world but not of the world, that they can be unified. They pray for us to have this peace. We are not alone. Christ is the peace, refuge, and love.
Heavenly Father is aware of us, he knows when we are sad, he wants to give us strength through the atonement, and he wants us to pray to him. As we choose, action word, to follow Jesus Christ we can qualify for that power. God created us in the beginning, which is how he knows the potential we have and the problems we have. God knows our circumstances and blesses us with the help we need to accept and live the gospel. God is aware of them, he wants to help, but they need to let him.
28 April 2015
We are not forgiven if we are not cleansed by our baptism and purified by the power of the Holy Ghost. In order to move towards baptism we need to have faith in Jesus Christ and that he has the power to cleanse us of our sins and that through him we can return to live with our Heavenly Father again. This same faith drives us to obey, change, and repent which helps us align our will with the Lords will. We become more like Christ and we try and be complete, and in order for it to be complete we need to be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost. Only when we receive baptism and the gift of the Holy Ghost can we be purified from sin and have the power to endure to the end. We need to receive these things so that we can be completed and perfected in Christ and return to live with our father in heaven.
29 April 2015
Listening to the Holy Ghost, the Holy Ghost will bring to us the remembrance of all things. We must then pray for the spirit's guidance and go forth valiantly. We can have spiritual guidance before we are baptized, which helps us to know the truth of things, but we cannot have the gift of the Holy Ghost until after we are baptized. The Holy Ghost validates what we learn here and what we learned in the pre-mortal life.
The Holy Spirit of promise is when the spirit confirms that a covenant is accepted to God.
Constancy means purposeful and dependable. To dwell with God we need to have a lifetime of righteousness and we need to be intentionally dependable and faithful to God. We must constantly choose gods plan and choose to act on that.

Ensign Article: talks about teaching simply. Luke 10:25-37. We need to understand what they want to know, why they are listening to us, we check their understanding, testify of the truth they said, ask questions to check their understanding again, teach to their level. We need to continually establish our expectations and understand what they want from our visits, especially at, before, and after transfers. Use the HTBT points to tailor the lesson to the investigator, to help them understand as an individual. Help the investigators accept and act upon what they know. Alma 7:17 - do you believe these things? We know by the spirit we feel. Be baptized?
01 May 2015
Unauthorized changes and disobedience led God to withdraw the priesthood power leaving the people without divine direction. We need to protect ourselves against personal apostasy by keeping covenants, obey the commandments, follow church leaders, partake of the sacrament, daily scripture study, prayer and service. Because there was no priesthood power there needed to be a restoration!
02 May 2015
Prayer is a commandment from God and brings power and peace in our lives. Enos was taught by his father and taught plainly the precious truths of salvation. We must hear he gospel truths, let it sink into their heart (have a spiritual witness), have that sinking lead to desire (action), and obey the commandments (be baptized, also action).
03 May 2015
Covenants are promises between God and us. God sets the limits and guidelines, and we accept them. The restoration prepares people for the millennium, how do we prepare? We make and keep sacred covenants. As we lay down our natural man life for the sake of Christ's name will find it again, but this life will be an eternal life. We will be able to live with God and fulfill our purpose of having joy as we make and keep sacred covenants.

Building up of small things leads to a big thing. Sin prevents us from acknowledging who we really are, a child of God. Our purpose is to become like God and to have joy. Well, how do we do that? How do we get rid of sin? We embrace the atonement, we repent. And we cannot fully repent until we are baptized (or partake of the sacrament every week) because only after this can we be blessed with the power of the Holy Ghost which purifies us and strengthens us. Part of repentance is evaluating ourselves, examining to see if what we are doing is in harmony with the teachings of God or not, if not we change them, if they are we work hard to keep it that way. Why are we supposed to be baptized? Well, it is a matter of obedience, we were sent here to earth to be proven and we are proven worthy as we follow the plan of God. We can only be clean and perfected through obedience. It also helps us know why we are here. Mosiah 2:41, 4:3, Helaman 5:30, 1 Nephi 17:45. Why do we obey? Because obedience de brings joy and that is the purpose of this life.
06 May 2015
What are our desires? Do we want to be the best and show it? Do we have a sincere desire to follow the lord and show our love for him through diligence? Do we apply the atonement of the lord in our life to improve everyday? Have we been healed from our problems through the atonement? How can we become the best, most genuine, selves.
07 May 2015
Our job as missionaries, followers of Christ who testify of him and the restored truths of the gospel, is to invite. That is our only job. We cannot force. Agency is the gift from God and we only offer a new option. We do not only teach non-members we teach members and help them grow in their faith to have the courage to invite their friends.
