Dear Family and Friends,
Happy Monday! It's crazy to see that yet another week has gone by so quickly. I can't believe how fast my mission is passing by. I don't like it. This December will be 5 months already! There's so much work to do, it can't come that quick! Well, it's part of life I suppose. I just hope my whole life doesn't go by this quick.
Well, okay, to start off the week. Monday, as you know was Pday but we were also able to stop by Maria and Leo two investigators that we have been teaching long before I got here. But we were able to find out that they weren't reading their scriptures as well as not coming to church. So we were able to testify of the truthfulness of the scriptures and all they do to help us, especially in our hard times. There's something that's keeping the, from coming to church and kind of dragging their feet. Maria has all the desire in the world to get baptized but doesn't want help from the church to do so...I can understand. Eternal life is what's best for Maria and Leo. Maybe not now, but it is. I think with them we just need to be patient, but where is the line between patient and them not keeping commitments?
After that we had exchanges and I was in Arlington heights with Hermana Torres. She is an awesome missionary and I got some great advice from her! Sometimes I get frustrated when we don't ever get to a teaching appointment, like Sunday... Hermana Klivans played the piano beautifully for the stake Christmas activity but our investigator who came to church left right after sacrament so we didn't get to teach her a lesson. But hey, there was a miracle with that. Apparently Alfina has friends who are members of our branch! It was really cool. She came top church and asked if we knew who the woman in silver was, yeah we knew. We have dinner with her every Wednesday. Talk about a miracle. Now she has an Amulek that she knows and that we have been preparing for something like this since I've been here. Talk about the lords hand in our area. Anyway, exchanges were good. I got shew-ed off a porch for the first time on my mission and it was pretty hilarious. We also taught an Albanian man, found a lost sheep from Mexico, taught some guys in the back who were in the back of their truck working, and had really awesome food and a finding lesson. It was the boost that I had needed. I think right now I'm struggling to find the balance between being a leader and being demanding. I think the key to that is patience though, so that's what I'm working on right now.
Wednesday as you know we had zone conference. Wow! Our leaders are truly inspired because I learned so much and I took so much to apply in our area and in my own life. Especially the attitude, desire, and faith. And when the assistants talked about having everything focused on saving souls. That phrase is now hanging on my wall and it has really helped me remember my missionary purpose. Our zone leaders are very inspired as well. They push us to be better. We haven't put anyone on date this transfer and we have only invited two people to baptism. It's something we are working on to improve, but this weekend they committed us to put someone on date and seek the spirit to know how we could do that and who we should do that with. We didn't get a chance to follow through with that commitment but we will try and keep trying until it actually happens. Knowing that we have amazing leaders from the top down helps us as missionaries, we know that there is always going to be someone who has our back and always someone who will give us the guidance that we need. Thank you for all that you do!
Thursday we found a family of new investigators and had lessons all day. Whoo hoo! That was also the happiest I felt all week. I know that as we work and do the things that we are supposed to we will feel the spirit and we will feel joy. It was amazing, but our joy hit a pause when I left my iPad on the top of the roof...normally I make sure my iPad is in my bag but I lost focus and I can promise it won't happen again! Oh man that was a scare. But it was okay because on Friday we found such an amazing Amulek for our investigator Erelio. He is from Cuba and she is from the Dominican but they are perfect! He may get baptized pretty soon, definitely be expecting an announcement of that soon.
Saturday we had a relief society activity and it was a hit because there was a he picture of Jesus Christ and they took the is the gift pictures and posted it on Facebook. Talk about trending on Facebook! The initiative is going slow for us as in getting new investigators and referrals but I know our members are sharing it so I'm very happy for that. I keep praying that the initiative will take off for us. We are doing everything we are supposed to and are trying to figure out new and creative ways to share it so I know Heavenly Father will bless us.
This week is was awesome to say the least, and once again I learned a ton from the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is a cure all, Mr. Stemle will be pretty upset with me when he finds out that I forgot that word...anyway. Keep going strong and I invite all of you to share the gospel with those around you! And go out with the missionaries in your area! The people around you are being prepared to hear your testimony!
Until Next Week!!
