Dear Family and Friends,
This week was a great one! It was filled with chances to grow my faith
and patience! ;) It was awesome because we had two investigators,
Daisy and Gloria, and this week we got two new investigators, Paulino
and Gustavo, their husbands respectively. I love teaching families!
They are doing well and they seem like they are very prepared to make
and keep commitments! Whoo hoo! Every missionaries dream! We are still
trying to find people to teach because our pool of investigators is
quite low, and we are praying for those people to pop up as we search
diligently for them. We went to a members house this week to help them
with a garage sale, they are moving on Friday, and so we went in our
civi's...well, we had brought our clothes to change into, except, my
companion forgot her shoes...it was so funny! Good thing we had
landing that day because she looked really tacky. Really tacky.
Everything else this week was pretty ordinary. I will try to live more
adventurously for your entertainment next week!
The highlight of my week was this:
Mission Conference - September 2014
If you feel that you are surrounded by darkness, read the Book of
Mormon so that it may flood you with light.
- President Fenn
Friday we had Mission Conference, which was amazing! We spoke solely
about the Book of Mormon and the blessing it is in our lives and in
our missions.
The spirit that was felt can't be described.
Everyone who bore their testimony of the Book of Mormon had such
powerful knowledge and such humble experiences, I wish I could have
had my investigators there so that they could really feel how
important this book is. One thing that I loved about each testimony is
that the Book of Mormon helped every missionary in their time of need,
even though their situations were different. Everyone we teach has an
individual problem that they need help with and every one of our
investigators can receive the help that they need through diligently
studying and seeking our Lord and Savior through the Book of Mormon.
From my own experiences in my short time here in the mission field, I
know the Book of Mormon is a gift from our Heavenly Father to help me,
and you, in our hard times. It helps build us up and grow stronger,
but how?
As I thought about why it was so important and why it helped us in our
hard times, I thought of the book of 1 Nephi. Here, we are continually
shown how faith gives us power and how obedience brings us blessings.
Then I thought of the books of 2 Nephi, Mosiah, Alma, 3 Nephi,
Helaman, Mormon, Ether, Moroni, and all of the other books, no matter
how small, that are in the Book of Mormon and how they each testify
and share the importance of different, related things. They teach of
things such as agency, service, missionary work, the sacrament, faith,
and prayer, but all things are related to our savior. The Book of
Mormon is so special because it testifies continually of our savior,
and in each book we can learn something different about Jesus Christ.
When we learn more about Jesus Christ, we learn about his atoning
sacrifice, and when we learn about his atoning sacrifice we learn how
to obtain peace in this life. This life is hard, but through the Book
of Mormon we can come to know of our savior, and through our savior we
can find comfort and strength in our hard times. This is why it is so
important.
If you are going through a hard time, please read the Book of Mormon.
I know it can bless your life. For those of you who have read the Book
of Mormon, think of a time when the scriptures have saved your life.
When were you so low you didn't think anything could pick you up, but
the Book of Mormon did. I am continually learning more and more about
the Book of Mormon and from the Book of Mormon and I encourage
everyone else to as well! Especially if you are preparing to come on a
mission. Prepare to be apart of an army of spiritual giants and a
warrior of righteousness by studying the Book of Mormon and letting it
heal you and make you who Heavenly Father needs you to be!
I love you all! I thank you for your letters and your emails! It
really makes the difference and it means the world to me! Have a great
week!
Love,
Hermana Kunz
