This week was amazing! Hermana Santos and I have been making it a
focus to follow every thought that we have and we have been seeing so
many miracles. A few days ago I let a few thoughts slip by, talking
myself out of doing it, and so I didn't. But then I read my
patriarchal blessing and it basically chastised me telling me that
when the Holy Ghost prompts me, follow the promptings immediately...so
I started to do that yesterday. We knocked at a house three times, no
answer, so we left a Book of Mormon card and kept going. Well I had a
thought to knock at the "back door" on the side of their house and so
I followed it. Hermana Santos took a quick second before she realized
that I had left her. But we knocked and a young woman answered. Well,
she happened to be studying to be a missionary at a bible school in
Chicago and basically called the Book of Mormon blasphemy. By as we
explained we could see the doubt rise up in her. We sparked curiosity,
especially with our invitation to indulge and ask God for herself. She
asked us how we came to know the Mormon church and so I told her that
I was born into the church but came to know for myself that it was true in high school. She seemed intrigued. Even if nothing works out with her, I followed a prompting and the joy I felt by doing so is indescribable. That's why we follow promptings.
On Monday, my trainer asked me to do something completely outside of
my comfort zone and talk to a stranger, who also happened to be my
waiter! We were eating at Steak n' Shake (my new nickname...), a local
restaurant, when my companion challenged me to do the impossible. Talk
to someone...oh man were the butterflies strong. My heart raced and my
palms got sweaty but I did it. And strangely enough, as I was talking
the words seemed to just come out. I don't even remember what I said.
Probably something along the lines of I know the church is true and
will bring you peace. But he just kind of stared for me for a second
and then said thanks and life went on as usual. Oh man was that a test
of faith! I know that as we talk with everyone about the gospel, no
matter how hard or awkward it may seem, that Heavenly Father will
bless us with what to say by the power of the Holy Ghost. They may not
always accept what we say, but a seed will be planted.
Wednesday was terrible. Monday I had to get a flu shot...yuck. And
Wednesday I had the worst case of nausea, fever, and body aches. Are
those symptoms of the flu? I have no idea but in my mind it came por
medio de the flu shot...I'm glad I won't have to get one after my
mission!
Saturday was the first snow fall, and let me tell you, riding bikes in
the cold with snow bowing in your face in a skirt, is definitely
something that I do not recommend. Number one, your muscles don't want
to cooperate with you (quick side story: Hermana Santos and I were
knocking when it was ridiculously cold, como 13 degrees, and our
mouths wouldn't cooperate with our minds. Needless to say it was very
difficult for people to understand us! Our mouths were frozen!)
anyway,Friday we rode in the cold and my shoulder got so tense and it
wouldn't relax! Ouchie! I was in so much pain! Well I felt bad because
we were really late so Saturday when it came time to leave I just
sucked it up and embraced the fact that I would want to chop my arm
off at the end of the night and got on my bike. Well, we should have
walked because it started snowing and we can't ride in the snow and so
our bikes got to spend the night at the library!
This weeks miracles include finding Rosio! She is a young woman who
has been through a lot. I think that may be the understatement of the
century. But she has had her faith tested and tried in just about
every way possible and its hanging by a thread. But we came just in
time! It was such a miracle!!! And we had a goal that day to get three
new investigators because we have gotten any in a week and we got
Rosio and her two kids! :) following every thought is helping us work
miracles in our area!
To end the week we he a member missionary activity where we were able
to talk with the members about how they can help in the work of
salvation. It was a hit! We hope to start having a lot more members
come out with us to appointments, more member referrals, and food :)
This week was really great! Thanks for everything everyone of you does
for my family and I! Thank you for your thoughts, prayers, and
letters! I love you all! :)
Love,
Hermana Kunz
Hermana Kunz sent some quotes to share with everyone. I just fixed them up and made them pretty. For family and friends who are planning on sending a Christmas care package, the mission home would like to have it sent no later than December 5, 2014 mark Christmas on it. Herman Kunz also mention this: Btw in the blog can you say that I would love socks, sweaters, and long sleeve shirts for Christmas :) thanks! Oh, and fruit loops. Thanks for all your help and support! The Kunz Family
